Vocera Fact Sheet

What is Vocera Wireless Communication?
Vocera is a mobile communications system that provides primary hands-free instant voice communication among members logged into a Vocera wireless network to ensure prompt responses and collaboration. This system includes features such as speech recognition, call display, conference calling, group messaging, call transfer and forwarding, and voicemail.

Research Background
The Vocera project is positioned the Ward of the 21st Century (W21C) as a pilot site for the Calgary Health Region (CHR)/Alberta Health Services (AHS). Through a variety of research initiatives the W21C will have the ability to translate findings and experience back to the CHR/AHS regarding future implementations, hospital design, and technological improvements surrounding the use of Vocera. This project has also provided opportunities for a multidisciplinary network of researchers.
