Interprofessional Rounds

Interprofessional (IP) Rounds are educational sessions held monthly on Unit 36 (on the 3rd Friday at 12:00 p.m. of each month). The patient focus or topic is chosen by representatives of the Interprofessional Education Committee. The choice is generally based on teaching clinical providers about a patient's medical complexity, treament challenges or interesting presentation. These rounds offer an opportunity for all team members to come together and learn about other pespectives in patient care. Efforts are made to partner with a lunch sponsor.

Rounds 02
A representative of those disciplines involved in a case are invited to briefly present key challenges from their perspective(s). The primary discipline focus may change from month to month. A team member involved in the case will coordinate the presentation and facilitate dicussion (a rotating role). Presenters can include MTU resdents, medical specialists (hematology, palliative care, etc.), nursing and allied health professionals (SLP, PT, OT, RD, SW, Aboriginal Liaison, TS, etc.). Whenever possible, the patient or family members are invited to participate or their perspective is communicated for them. In this way those who work together are able to learn together.

The Fall schedule for IP Rounds is currently being developed.  Please visit this page again to view the full schedule for the 2010-2011 series.
