University of Calgary Idea Exchange: Can we outsmart cancer?

March 14 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm

At UCalgary, we believe good ideas are transformational.

What makes a good idea? Some might say good ideas are fueled by passion. Others would say good ideas solve problems and deliver value.

Join us for a lively, expert-led discussion at Idea Exchange, where we’ll explore ideas that challenge our perceptions, push boundaries and spark meaningful change.

Cancer has a profound impact on Albertans — 50 per cent of men and 33 per cent of women in Alberta will develop cancer in their lifetime. Researchers at the University of Calgary are collaborating across disciplines and faculties to lead the charge against these diseases.

From precision medicine to advancing psychosocial support for patients and families, our medical leaders are leading innovative research to better detect cancer, improve treatment and enhance patient support.

We know we can outsmart cancer. Join us in a conversation as our panel of experts from medicine, nursing and engineering explores how UCalgary researchers are tackling the toughest challenges to change the future of cancer through:

  • Prevention: Hear how we are exploring new ways to stop cancer before it starts.
  • Detection: Discover the new tests and screening techniques being used to detect cancer earlier and, ultimately, save lives.
  • Treatment: Learn how precision medicine is shaping the way patients receive care.
  • Support: Gain insight into all of the ways that we are support patients and their families during and after treatment.
