The W21C conducted an overview on interventions to reduce emergency department overcrowding for the Health Quality Council of Alberta. The review synthesized previous systematic reviews that had been conducted on interventions shown to reduce emergency department overcrowding, improve patient flow, and reduce patient wait times. Among these interventions synthesized by the review, a number of efficacious interventions were highlighted along with others where the evidence was more uncertain.
