Journal Club: Mock-Up Evaluation of EMS Mobile Stroke Assessment Unit

October 1, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Susan Biesbroek, Human Factors Safety Specialist, AHS

Presentation Summary:

EMS Edmonton is building a specific Mobile Stroke Assessment Unit vehicle to respond to stroke patients en route to hospital and enable CT scanning and medication administration in a more timely manner. Only 5 of these vehicles exist worldwide and AHS needs to ensure that the vehicle is designed to meet legislation for ALS ambulances and user requirements.  The AHS Human Factors team partnered with EMS to conduct a modular mock-up evaluation to determine space requirements and layout of the proposed vehicle to ensure the design meets end user requirements.

The W21C Journal Club+ is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of the Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
