W21C Journal Club: Conducting a “Living” Literature Review on the Cheap: An Example in Health Economics

November 2, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 12:50 pm

The W21C Journal Club + is proud to present:

Daniel Wagner

PhD student, Department of Community Health Sciences, UCalgary

Presentation Summary

Literature reviews, become out of date the moment they are published. In response, many are calling for the transition to “living” reviews, which are updated as new evidence becomes available. In this presentation, I will explain the development of my own “living” review of economic evaluations of diagnostic technologies. Strategies to manage the cost of the review, and steps taken to ensure reproducibility will be detailed.

Learning Objectives

  1. Learners will be introduced to the idea of a “living” review;
  2. Learners will be introduced to concepts related to reproducible computing;
  3. Learners will gain exposure on how available resources (i.e. Redcap) and open-source tools can be used to support a living review.
