Cleankeys developed a fully waterproof, washable keyboard. W21C conducted a multi-phase study in partnership with AHS Infection Prevention and Control that involved a microbiological survey of traditional (non-washable) keyboards in the hospital setting, laboratory testing comparing the washability of Cleankeys to traditional keyboards and usability testing with the Cleankeys keyboard in a hospital environment. Results suggest that hospital keyboards are highly contaminated and that washable keyboards (such as Cleankeys) offer distinct hygiene advantages.
