Mahzabin completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Bangladesh. After completing her medical internship, she pursued her passion for medical research at the University of Calgary.
Mahzabin has been involved in multiple research projects focusing on immigrant health and led several systematic reviews as a primary author at the Department of Family Medicine. She also coordinated a clinical research study at the Gastroenterology department on the effects of nutrition in Crohn’s disease patients. Currently, in W21C, she’s working with Dr. Karen Tang investigating social networks, social vulnerabilities, and readmissions in a cohort of medical inpatients.
Outside of work, Mahzabin volunteers in a nonprofit organization (Bangladesh Medical Society of Alberta) as a professional development secretary. She enjoys hiking, canoeing, and cooking in her free time.
