Marissa has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the University of Calgary. From this, she became especially interested in human factors and human-centered design. This led to the completion of a certificate course in User Experience Design from Mount Royal University. Her most notable project from that course was curating a website for the Food Trucks Association of Canada, that provided them with a platform in which they can spread their message and help others in the community, along with visually representing who they are as an organization. Outside of her academic life, Marissa is an active volunteer for the non-for-profit group CalgaryUX, where she has interviewed numerous user experience design leaders and created a community documentary around that. She also loves to play video games, paint, and go stand-up paddle boarding in the summertime.
