Dr. Mary Brindle is the Director of W21C, lead of the Health Everywhere Hub and the MacNeill Chair of Pediatric Surgical Research. She is the Director of The EQuIS (Efficiency Quality Innovation and Safety) research platform at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Additionally, she holds key roles as the Director of Safe Surgery and Safe Systems at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Scientific and Secretary General of the International ERAS Society.
Dr. Brindle’s research looks to address the issues that impact health systems safety and the functioning of medical teams. Her work explores the role of team performance and digital innovation through international and national collaboration. Her research has received funding from sources including CIHR, and NIH/AHRQ and is widely published in both the medical literature (such as JAMA) and the popular press (Harvard Business Review) and presented globally. Dr. Brindle’s influence extends to her role as the Chair of the Canadian Association of Chairs of Surgical Research and the co-chair of the Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access Committee for the Canadian Association for Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Brindle is dedicated to shaping the future of surgery through a combination of implementation science and rigorous quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
