Surakshya completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Sydney’s Medical School. At W21C, Surakshya has provided education and research support to various projects. In her role as an Education Coordinator, she coordinated the Patient Safety Course, provided support to projects within the University of Calgary’s Post Graduate Medical Education and Undergraduate Medical Education teams, has helped the University of Calgary’s Internal Medicine Residency Program with their transition to Competence by Design, and has coordinated courses for the AMR One Health Consortium. In her role as a Research Associate, she has supported community-based healthcare studies as well as, population and public health/indigenous health studies.
Currently, in her role as a Research Project Coordinator, Surakshya manages the RePORT study- a national multicentre study to evaluate the impact of a de-implementation strategy that engages patients and healthcare professionals in reducing laboratory test overuse.
Outside of work, Surakshya enjoys travelling and watching/discussing movies and series.
