Journal Club: Laos Health: UCalgary Doctors and Educators Working in Laos

Presentation Summary:
Drs. Sharma and Tang will be introducing some of the work University of Calgary doctors have been doing in Laos PDR. They will summarize the work that has been going on for more than a decade, how the program has grown, and focus on their most recent trip to work with health care providers in Savannakhet Province. The latest initiative for the program brought Nishan and Karen to the Province to introduce the basics of Quality Improvement applied to the health care setting. This will be an informal presentation with lots of photos!
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the origins of the Laos Health Program.
2. Summarize the focus of the clinical teaching Calgary doctors have done with Laos health care providers
3. Describe the initial foray of the program into teaching principles of healthcare quality improvement
4. Enjoy images from the last visit to Savannakhet and Laos.
