Nicola has a Bachelor of Arts in modern languages from the University of Sheffield, UK, and is a certified English language teacher. She has delivered and managed educational programs since 2013. Prior to moving to Canada, she lived and worked in the UK, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Vietnam.

Since joining W21C in 2018, Nicola has taken on a variety of roles and tasks as part of the operations team. In April 2020, she helped launch SPARK Alberta at W21C with Dr. Scott Kraft, MD. This translational research program supports academic digital health innovators in Alberta and is part of a global network of sites that originated at Stanford University. Currently, Nicola is responsible for managing SPARK Alberta, which includes program administration, stakeholder and partnerships liaison, and strategic planning. She has also been a key contributor in the Calgary innovation ecosystem and in launching a SPARK Americas working group, of which she currently supports as Chair.
