Scope Augmented Reality Solutions
Scope Augmented Reality Solutions - Development of a CVC Training Tool
About the Project
W21C collaborated with SCOPE Augmented Reality Solutions, an Alberta-based company specializing in augmented reality (AR) software development, to develop clinically informed augmented reality software to teach central venous catheterization (CVC) within medical residency programs. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to co-develop the technology, and evaluate the feasibility of using augmented reality as an educational alternative to traditional methods of instruction for residents. The current version of the software operates on the Microsoft HoloLens hardware, and would allow medical residents practice on human patient simulators independently of a medical educator. The software has gone through multiple iterations by the W21C Human Factors team using a novel set of AR heuristics.
